Favre’s Retirement

Brett Favre - AP Images

When you're that old and lie like that, you actually look dead.

I wonder who feels worse today, Brett Favre, mustering up enough self-delusion and injections to play last night only to be knocked out with a concussion, or me, losing in the fantasy playoff semi-finals by 1.4 points to a Michael Vick owner? If I had to be objective, it’d probably be Favre – even though we’re both dealing with hangover headaches. Here’s why I finally think Brett has played his last game…  Continue reading

Monday Morning Hangover

Michael Bush - Getty Images

I hate you, Michael Bush. And you look stupid scoring TDs.

I don’t know what it is, but whenever any of my teams face a crushing defeat, I wake up the next morning with a headache. But wait, how can this be when the Ravens convincingly beat the reigning World Champion Saints yesterday? Well, I’m talking about my other team – the one that doesn’t really exist… Yup, I’m crossing over into forbidden territory and talking about my personal fantasy team. I understand that nobody really cares about my team except for me, but I figured it’d be nice to get this off my chest as a form of rehabilitation. Come on, after 4-5 months of hard work to lose by 1.4 points in the semi’s is too much for a man to handle alone. If you’re at all interested, you can find my pain and sorrow after the jump…  Continue reading

Vegas, Here I Come!

LeSean McCoy - Getty Images

LeSean "Shady" McCoy

You know how much I love to brag, so you should’ve seen this coming. Yesterday I predicted the game would be 34-24 Eagles, and guess what the final outcome was? That’s right, 34-24. Sure, it was practically a shot in the dark, but I can boast a little, can’t I? Anyway, it was a fun game to watch as the offenses duked it out. Probably my favorite part of the game was how quietly LeSean McCoy (he seriously has 4 capital letters in his name) racked up 120 yards and 2 TDs. He has to be the most underrated skill player on the Eagles. Everybody’s so concerned with Vick and Jackson, as they should be, so McCoy can use his skills to make big plays. Now, as an NFL Network commentator said earlier this week, imagine how awesome it’d be if the Eagles saw the Falcons in the Georgia Dome for the NFC Championship. That’d be nuts. Anyway, enough with the dreaming, I still think Green Bay will be right there til the end for the NFC.

Can’t wait for the other prime-time games this weekend! Ravens & Steelers on Sunday night and Patriots & Jets on Monday. Week 13 has to be, by far, the best regular season weekend this year. Let the best team (Ravens) win!

TNF: How To Stop Andre

Just run, Cortland. Run.

Tonight’s game should be a lot of fun, if you’re into high-scoring offensive TD-fests. I mean, who isn’t? Isn’t that why Michael Vick demands so much attention from television audiences across America? He’s a freak talent, possibly once in a lifetime, with the shiftiness and speed to be a great skills-player (i.e.: PR, WR, RB) and the laser left-handed arm of a matured QB. The last few times we saw Michael Vick in primetime, he did more than an outstanding job – and those games were v. the Redskins and Giants. Now, come tonight, Michael Vick will be playing against the 32nd-rated defense in the league. If this game becomes a shoot-out, which it very well can with Arian Foster and Andre Johnson on the other side, Vick could potentially amass over 500 yards from scrimmage, and I wouldn’t even be shocked. I’d be entertained, but not shocked.

Vick for MVP! & Other Thoughts on the Weekend

Hot Cheerleaders - Getty Images

Cold girls are so hot.

Here are my thoughts on this last NFL weekend:

  • Dancing in the Rain – This wasn’t originally going to be in here, but as I was browsing photos of the Eagles & Redskins game, the photo with the cheerleaders (above) popped up. Now, although putting this photo up probably prompted you to actually read this post, it reminds me of a thought all the way from Halloween. When the cheerleaders dressed up in skimpy Halloween costumes, I remember seeing them and thinking, “Wow, they’re wearing more clothes than they normally do!” And this photo kind of drives that point home. First of all, look in the lower right hand corner to view a couple butt-cheeks hanging out. Now, look at their hair. Notice anything? They’re all drenched from head to toe, dancing in the pouring rain, wearing mildly-better-than underwear. Something about the nature of cheerleading is a bit unsettling for me. Don’t get me wrong, I find women extremely attractive and I’m probably the last person to talk about morals (and most of these women choose to be cheerleaders), but still, the extent which the NFL goes to in order to enhance the fetishisation of women makes me uneasy.
